SIS Spotlight: Adrianne Wheeler

Meet Adrianne Wheeler!

Adrianne is a STEM educator, who graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Civil & Environmental Engineering. She received her Masters of City Planning, with a concentration in Community Development, from University of California, Berkeley. Over 10 years of her life have been dedicated to providing STEM education services to students in Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Currently, she serves as the Director of Programs at Project SYNCERE (Supporting Youth’s Needs with Core Engineering Research Experiments), a non-profit organization in Chicago providing STEM programming to youth in underserved communities. In her role, Adrianne uses her ingenuity to maximize the organization's efficiency through the development of new processes and systems to sustain continued growth. Daily she encourages students, especially girls, to develop a good sense of why they want to pursue a STEM career while creating a culture of belonging and risk taking in her classes.

Aside from Project SYNCERE, Adrianne remains active by sitting as a Board Member and acting as the Director of Youth Ministry for a faith-based, non-profit in Chicago’s Roseland community. Previously, she held a position on the National Executive Board for the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE).

Adrianne strives to continuously be a change agent, administrator, educator, and problem solver. Her work teaches teams how to effectively streamline their processes to better achieve their business goals. She lives each day motivated to impact organizations by providing administrative leadership with a touch of tech savviness.
